2019 Suzuki Vitara - Video Road Report

Video Road Report

We video test the 2019 Suzuki Vitara

Suzuki’s new look Vitara comes into our viewfinder this month, with a bold new face, an extremely ‘happy inducing ‘colour palette and a sophisticated interior which means the pocket rocket SUV can add “classy” to its long list of descriptive terms.

Most critically, the 2019 Suzuki Vitara is best described as “technologically advanced in safety,” incorporating vehicle weaving alert, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and rear cross traffic alert as well as blind spot monitoring among others, giving it the maximum 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

Suzuki has always had a reputation for value for money when it comes to its vehicles and the Vitara carries on this traditional value for the brand which has introduced all the safety features and a facelift, yet has retained the price from the preceding model.

It’s still unmistakably a Vitara, which means it’s less threatening and overbearing than other SUV’s, despite having 375 litres of luggage space behind the rear seats, with a false floor for hideaway storage to boot.

This makes the Vitara more appealing in many respects to a wider-than-you-might-think audience. It’s fair to say the Vitara transcends age barriers when it comes to its potential buying market.

Accordingly, the direct injection, turbocharged Vitara delivers excellent fuel economy at 6.5 litres per 100km and includes voice activated satnav, a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Suzuki has made its Vitara SUV flagship smarter, safer and dare I say, sexier, while retaining the hallmark trait associated with this vehicle: fun. It’s an SUV which truly epitomises lifestyle transport for the young at heart.

With the range available incorporating 2WD and AWD variants, the 103kW, 220Nm Vitara appeals on so many levels and to so many buyers looking to inject more than a little bit of fun in their daily driver which doubles as a getaway-for-the-weekend wagon.
