We video review the all-new 2020 Toyota Corolla range – Hatchback, Sedan & Wagon.
50 years of vehicle excellence have gone into the development of the 2020/21 Toyota Corolla range and, with the current offering, the Corolla’s well-earned reputation as New Zealand’s favourite small car looks set to continue.
The comprehensive line up consisting of a hatchback, a sedan and a wagon is the most technologically advanced yet, by virtue of – but not limited to – the increased number of hybrid powertrains within the range.
Corolla hatch and sedans come with the option of efficient and refined petrol or the more sophisticated self-charging hybrid engines in addition to the entry level GX, mid-range SX and performance oriented ZR specifications.
The wagon – while not benefiting from the inclusion of a hybrid – has seen an engine upgrade to the more effective and larger displacement, latest generation 1.8-litre petrol powerplant. It also has the distinction of being the first of the new Corollas to be Apple CarPlay and Android Auto equipped. Other models have since followed suit.
All Corollas are built on the Toyota New Global Architecture platform, which contributes to the superbly confident handling and ride characteristics exhibited by all Corollas, regardless of their European-inspired body-styles.
Safety is a critical component of any contemporary vehicle of today and the Toyota Corollas are all equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense package, the umbrella term for safety features including lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and more, in addition to the conventional airbag complement, ABS brakes and stability control mechanisms.
The Corolla is the quintessential Toyota product with an enduring reputation for durability and an endearing appeal made all the stronger with the competitive Toyota Driveaway pricing structure. To this, the Corolla range adds the latest engine technology, remarkable equipment levels, excellent and efficient performance with style and panache of cars commanding much higher price premiums.
