We video review the 2024 Suzuki S-Cross Hybrid.
The Suzuki S-Cross Hybrid now takes its place as head of the Suzuki family rather than being considered a close relative, with a fresh and bold look and all the benefits of Suzuki’s 48-volt hybrid technology.
Yes, the S-Cross Hybrid now runs Suzuki’s highly respected direct injection, 1.4-litre turbocharged BoosterJet engine, whose 95kW of power and 235Nm of torque are enhanced by an improved Integrated Starter Generator 48-volt battery and electric motor system.
Better for fuel economy, easier on the environment at 133gm per km, the 48-volt hybrid system delivers performance improvements to the Suzuki S-Cross, while at the same time, enhancing the overall driving experience, providing consistent power and torque delivery across a wider range of conditions.
The S-Cross Hybrid offers two models – a 2WD and an AWD – and, in addition to the same powertrain, each shares the high level of JLX specification and equipment, barring the extremely capable dial-controlled, four-mode AllGrip all-wheel-drive system.
While the new hybrid technology, the proven nature of the AllGrip system and the luxury levels are core considerations for customers, for Suzuki, the safety specifications were significant in the S-Cross Hybrid’s development. As a result, the S-Cross Hybrid’s safety credentials are categorised as Suzuki’s best, with the dual brake support system lane departure warning and prevention system, weaving alert, blind spot monitoring and a full complement of seven airbags.
Most impressively, the S-Cross Hybrid delivers a ride which lacks for nothing. It looks good without being pretentious, it drives well without the driver having to work hard and in terms of its 5.9 litres per 100kms fuel consumption, the S-Cross Hybrid is one of the easier vehicles to match and exceed the manufacturer’s stated figures. Further to this, the longer you spend in the S-Cross Hybrid, the more you appreciate all the refinement Suzuki has put into what can now justifiably be called its flagship model.
