New SUV Test video - Mazda CX-30

New models, SUV, Video Road Report

Of all the automakers represented in this country, Mazda seems to be the brand best weathering the slings and arrows of global pandemics. Want proof? Here it is: the all-new Mazda CX-30.

This SUV is brave on so many levels; it has the distinction of being New Zealand’s first vehicle to be ‘virtually launched,’ it has no preceding model to draw on but it has a wealth of associated heritage built on brand equity, for the CX-30 brings together all that is brilliant about Mazda into one exquisite package.

Take the elegance of the Mazda6, the refinement of the CX-8, the enduring appeal of the CX-5, the clever space of the CX-9, the drivability of the MX-5 and the business practicality of the Mazda3 – an equation balanced by  one vehicle – the unrivalled CX-30.

This is the SUV which has scored the highest possible safety rating: ANCAP 5 star yes, but in the 98th percentile, which makes it one of the best buys ever if safety is your foremost consideration.

This implies a full suite of contemporary safety features, but Mazda has added a little extra. And that extra something is SkyActiv – the ultimate integration of refined elements which make up the whole of the vehicle: fuel saving technologies, chassis, transmission and the engines – all of which are designed to deliver Jinba Ittae – the sense of the rider and horse as one, or in this case, the SUV being an extension of the driver.

SkyActiv has been an integral part of the Mazda design ethos for some time now and is epitomised in the CX-30, the second example of Mazda’s generation 7 vehicles.

These vehicles all focus on a ‘less is more’ motif, lending an air of sophistication both inside and out while at the same time, creating a compact SUV with a massive interior space to rival SUVs of the next class up.
